The Hunger GamesChapter 9

Chapter 9
1. Describe Katniss's interview attire and training? What affect do you think it had on the audience?
Katniss' interview atire was a heavy dress covered with many jewels. Her skin is gold, has stencil patterns on her arms, and haflame designs on her 20 perfect nails. Her training didn't go very well. She and Haymtich couldn't figure out how she would act. She doesn't get along with him. I think that the audience liked how Katniss acted.
2. How does Haymitch and Cinna ask Katniss to behave?
Haymitch and Cinna ask Katniss to be herself. Haymitch doesn't like the way Katniss acts towards him when she's "being herself". She doesn't know how she should act to impress everyone and get sponsors. Cinna tells Katniss to look at him when she's answering a question, so she can act like herself.
3. What do we discover about Peeta during his interview?
During Peeta's interview, everyone finds out that he likes Katniss. The interview host, Ceaser Flickerman, asked Peeta if he had a girlfriend and he answers no. He then asks if he likes someone. He says yes but that alot of boys like her. He tells him to win the Hunger Games, and then she would'nt turn him down. Peeta tells him that won't happen, because the girl he likes came with him.

The Hunger Games Chapter 8

Chapter 8
1. What do the scores in the trainings mean to the tributes? What scores do Peeta and Katniss receive?
The scores in the training mean how good the tributes are in whatever it is they're good at.  For example Katniss is good with a bow and arrow. She recieves an 11 as her score. Peta recieves an 8. If you get a low score, then the other tributes will think tyou're weak, and save you for last, but you will get less maybe even no sponsors. If you get a good score you will be considered as a threat and will most likely be killed first, but will get sponsors.
2. How did Katniss and Gale meet? Describe their story?
When Katniss was twelve years old, she met Gale in the woods outside of District 12. He provided for his family too since his father also died in the same mining accident that killed Katniss's father. They slowly began t trust eachother, and eventually become close friends. Gale taught Katniss about snares, while she taught him what she knew about edible foods and gave him a bow that her father had made before he died.

The Hunger Games Chapter 7

Chapter 7
1. What are the pros and cons of Peeta and Katniss being coached together?
The pros of being trained together is that they will both get the same training. They can fix each other's mistakes . They can teach the other something they might not know. The cons are that they will know each other's strengths and weaknesses. They will know how to kill each other in the arena.
2. What resons did Peeta give for thinking Katniss will be better than him in the arena?
The reasons that Peeta gives that Katniss will be better than him that she is a great, experienced hunter. He remembers that she would always trade animals with his father. He said she has a great aim. Also, he says that she can even bring a deer down. He knows that she has great surviving skills.
3. What are career tributes and how are they a threat?
Career tributes are tributes that have been training for the Hunger Games their whole lives. They are in better shape than anyone else. They are a threat because they are more skilled. Basically they are in it to win it.
4. What does Katniss do to get the attention of the Gamemakers' attention?
To get the Gamekeepers' attention, Katniss launches an arrow to an apple that was in the mouth of a pig they were eating. Everyone was shocked because of this action. Afterwards, she just left without being dismissed.

The Hunger Games Chapter 6

Chapter6
1. What is an avox? How does Katniss know the avox?
An Avox is a person who commited a crime and was punished by having their tounge cut off. They can't talk, and they are the Capitol's slaves. Katniss knows the Avox because one day when she was hunting in the woods with Gale, they saw a girl and a boy running in the woods, as if they were escaping from something. Then they spotted a hovercraft, which was chasing the boy and girl. The hovercraft launched an arrow at the boy, and he died right there. The girl screamed and tried to ask Katniss for help, but she just stood there with Gale and did nothing. The hovercraf then took the girl away.
2. What prevents tributes from jumping off the roof? Why do you think this is in place?
The thing that prevented the tributes from jumping off the roof of the bulding was a forcefield. If you decide you want to jump off, it will just zap you back onto the roof. I think it is there because the Capitol knows that the tributes don't want to go to the Hunger Games, so they try to commit suicide, but they're not going to let them off that easy. That's the last thing the Capitol wants to happen, tributes missing.
3. What reasons would Peeta have for worrying about Gale?Maybe Peete likes Katniss. He might feel like he wont ever have a chance with Katniss because she's known Gale for so long and Peeta for only a while. He wants to know if they are more than just bestfriends. He might also be confused about their own relationship, if they're just friends or more than that. He jsut wants to find out the truth about Katniss and Gale's relationship.

The Hunger Games Chapter 5

Chapter 5
1. The presentation of the tributes seems to be greatly focused on visual representations and looks- what does this reveal about the belief systems of the capitol?
This reveals that the Capitol really into appearances. Everyone in the district The Capitol has stylists for each of the tributes so they can look their best at the interviews and everything else. Appearances is only one of the many crazy beliefs the Capitol has.

4. Why is it so hard for Katniss to  trust Peeta's gesture?
It is hard for Katniss to trust Peeta's kindness because she thinks that he is just being nice so she can get close to him & then he'll just kill her in the arena. She thinks the more likeable he is, the more deadly he is.

The Hunger Games Chapter 4

Chapter 4
1. Do you think Haymitch will be helpful as a mentor? Why or Why not?
I think that Haymitch is a good mentor, I think that he,s a good because he has been in the hunger games for a long time. Gale knows what to do so he can tell Katniss and Peeta were to go and were not or tell them how to survive the hunger games. I also think it is helpful for Katnissand Peeta because it will lead a successful game which will make Peeta and Katniss win.
2. What does Katniss mean when she says,"A kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous than an unkind one?" What Katniss means is that if Peeta is nice to her that Katniss will get attached to him and she won't try to kill him. Peeta might look likw a person who doesn't kill but it looks like if he is a killer.
3. What happens to convince Haymitch that Peeta and Katniss might be fighters?
Haymitch gives Katniss & Peeta some "advice" but they don't think it's very funny. So Katniss drives a knife on the table barely missing Haymitch's fingers.
4. What is the first honest advice Haymitch gives them?Haymitch tells Katniss and Peeta to not resist their stylists. He tells them that they may not like what they do to them, but they need to listen. He also makes a deal with them. He says that he'll stay sober to help them for the Hunger Games, but Katniss and Peeta have to obey him.

The Hunger Games Trial

I tried The Hunger Games and it was hard.
                     I got a 95% so that means that I lost. I think
it was confusing because normally on a normal
test if i got a 95% I would of past and gotten an A.
